Hello all
So, up and at tit today, just a bit of packing to do then i’m on my way to bonny Scotland. This weekend its the 3rd round of the NPS downhill race series taking part up at fort bill. Think its the same course they use for the world cup so should be a good session. Been hitting the road bike a fair bit last couple of weeks so my legs have had a bit of a work out but i’m sure its going to be death for them up there if seeing it on the telli is owt to go by. anyway thats me out of here, i’ll get results up monday and let you know how things went……

Pick up a copy of the 50th issue of Single Track mag. Got a cracking interview init like..

Nowt much doing atm just getting pretty annoyed with the weather, been trying to get out to film some stuff for a podder but it seams everytime i’m not at work or busy its pissing it down. Anyway, been hitting the road bike up a bit to get some fitness in the body as the next NPS downhill is up at Scotland (super pedally ) plus the Mega Avalanche is getting closer. Also i’ve talked myself into racing a Cyclocross next week, should be fun,i expect i’ll get totally executed but it’ll be good for the legs. Thats pretty much it for now, i’ll let you know what happens next week at the retrocross. peace outs

Day 1…. So got back from Wales where I took part in my first downhill race this season, has been a pretty hard weekend as I mentioned in the previous post I was sick as a dog. When I set off it didn’t get any better, it got worse! Rocked up on Saturday morning feeling like death, first stop was the portaloos to unleash hell! That taken care of I was off to the track, apparently it was a new track so turned up late was propbably a benefit as the track was changing all morning. I had read somewhere that the track was a do or die with very little pedaling it was certainly that due to my lack of power and energy, it was probably a good thing. The track was steep as hell and really causing problems as everybody was crashing and not getting clear runs in and making practice a massive queue fest. In total I probably spent more time on the toilet than I did learning the track.

Day 2……. I was still feeling sick as a pike, but i was rocking the imodium plus so felt a little bit more confident. Got there reasonably early, but due to heavy queues on the uplifts only managed to get one sketchy run in before seeding. The seeding run went pretty good, real chilled ride down, finished up fastest man down in Masters, 5 seconds clear. Race Run. I felt pretty confident that if I took it nice and easy and didn’t make any mistakes that I’d be fine, that was the plan, but things never go to plan. Run started off mint, hitting all my lines think I got a bit excited by it all, started putting the hammer down but it bit me in my ass. Finished up through the tapes in the brash. After fanning around tree hugging for a while, I got back on track knowing I had a bit of work to do. I opened it up on the bottom half of the track, thinking I’d proper fucked it, but it just turned out I’d somehow done enough to take the Masters overall. Not a bad result after feeling like death all weekend. Bit disappointed with my time, because I think I could of done a pretty respectable one but thats racing apparently!

Right ,so i’m just about to set off to Wales to race the NPS this weekend. Bike is ready kit is packed,just one problem “i pissing out of my arse” yes thats right i’m sick as a dog! Not cool really. Anyway i’m going to chill for a bit and see if my dirtyness subsides a bit as i don’t want to have any accidents in my pants on the way down. Thats it really. I’ll let you know what happens next time..

Moss has only been on the team for just over two weeks but he’s already been hard at work redesigning the long established mongoose sock, here’s a snap of the first sample he prepared for me earlier today.

Anyway nowt doing atm, waiting for a break in the shit weather to get out and make a movie, just waiting sweet heart…..

Had a nice surprise on my return from the US of A there was a box waiting for me with my new downhill rig in. As i’ve been doing a bit more of this gravity racing malarky i thought i needed a proper tool for the job (no excuses now ) anyway i’ve finally got it together and had it out for a quick shake down today. It feels amazing ,so fast and smooth,haven’t really ridden a full DH bike so its all new to me. As well as getting some race action in think it needs to be sent off some big drops to, with all that travel it would be a crime not to get some hooking done or whatever them crazy punks are calling it now .Got a couple of snaps of the beast,witch i’ll post up. And my over new addition to the Akrigg household is my new dog, he’s a border collie of 15 weeks and hes rad as hell. Thats me done for now ,nowt to exciting happening atm but i’ve got a couple of things in the pipe work filming wise so stay tuned for brakeless 3 and some crazy wall tap thing i’ve been eyeing up. Off to see White lies tomorrow night , can’t wait to get loose and rock out. peace out….
